This wonderful treasure of a bakery had a retail location on Del Monte near Voss for many years. I lived next door in the early ‘70s and I was a regular! Roland’s eventually moved to the present location, where it does not have a retail store, but services hotels, restaurants, and such with custom breads and pastries. The little-know secret is that they love retail sales but the procedure is to drop onto the Web site and send in your order, and they will make it special and fresh for you, to be picked up the next day. Prices are wholesale prices and very reasonable. One of their specialties each Christmas season is to make authentic fairy tale Gingerbread Houses, which you can use for holiday gifts or decorations, and then when the season is over, you can EAT the house!
